Uvita and the famous Marino Ballena National Park are renowned for the humpback whales that use the warm waters off the coast for breeding. Whales from the Southern Hemisphere come to Costa Rica from about Jul-Oct while whales from the Northern Hemisphere come from about Dec – Mar.
